last time on trio we explored Guadalupe
including the quiet and quaint islands a
vale de st. then we enjoyed an awesome
10-hour sail south to the island we're
in Dominica of Dominica
it's going to pick up our friends on
sandy beach this time on trio we meet up
with our friends on the catamaran sandy
feet and explore a guided tour of the
Indian River then a few days later we
all anchor head for Saint Pierre on the
island of Martinique and swim with
dolphins along the way okay sir morning
here in Dominica beautiful Anchorage
we're going to go on an adventure we're
gonna go up the Indian River work
Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed yeah
we watch part of it last night okay your
backpack our backpack
did you get that snack can you lock up
don't you do Negreanu okay I come
we are i like your boat look at it yeah
you got like every country it's gonna
pick up our friends on sandy feet oh boy
sandy beach
we have some of the landscape there
because it grows on the tree
where this one
I know
[Music]
it always round that means young every
tree has a different story stuff
[Music]
[Music]
hey hi
well we've left Dominica on a windless
day but exceeds a super calm
saying goodbye to beautiful Dominica
mid cell up but they still win
and sure pong
so this is our Anchorage Inn here at
Portsmouth on dominica as a Zumo you can
see all of dominica we're heading
south-southeast
and there's Martinique and our first
stop will be here at st. Pierre which is
where Mel Pele erupted in 1907 I believe
and killed thirty thousand people except
for one guy it was in the jail and he
survived and then down here is the main
town north of Ross down in here
look at the wind
in point a and it's going o play
the only one is the wind we're creating
so we're out here at Dominica along the
coast and there's a pot of either
dolphins or pilot whales sleeping at the
surface you can see them here right in
line with that sail about that white oh
there they go that's a better shot what
not be awesome oh yeah they are there oh
those are big dolphins yeah they're
dolphins for sure wow there's a lot of
them whoa here they can't go faster
they're coming right to us yeah I could
see them come under water go Chris they
go go get her home you ought to play
look at them underwater they're after
mom
ah
my way and they're gone
why they're gonna come they could catch
away the world
way back there now
the boys are in the water trying to get
a glimpse of the Dolphins so we're
playing off the coast of Dominica with
our friends on sandy beat boys are
in the water trying to see they can
catch a glimpse sub close with the
dolphins but they're feeling shy today I
think
and then
over here
[Music]
coast of Dominica
oh cool
there's a bunch of transport
Christa go near truck
[Music]
my conscience leapt off the boat
I said go and he went these guys GoPro
enhance and the Dolphins are right
underneath us again
oh they're all next to us but they're
out here buddy they're too far away
they're feeding did you get one sweet
good on you venture boy
now what
in that way for us
I got the water maker going
a gallons an hour
that's the parts-per-million
see who's having another slice of bread
homemade bread
these are still calm
and we're making some good time really
averaging like six knots sales are up
motor sailing but still pretty views so
see what happens when we get to that
point up there then we'll be into the
Martinique Passage and waves could
potentially get a little bigger in there
but based on what's out here it's going
to be pretty calm still
even if it doubled this so we've decent
and our buddy boat sandy feed is still
behind us
Oh quarter of a mile or so that's just a
beautiful day
so here we are at the point and like I
said we were expecting the wind to shift
it once it got around the point and
that's exactly what it's done we're kind
of scurrying around while you're
checking the portside closing our
hatches and the Whitecaps have kicked up
quite significantly as well as the swell
so now we're into it we got 25 miles of
it to the tip of Martinique and it's
showing 26 not to win
so
can change on a dime out here don't
believe it
that's crazy thank God the seas aren't
any larger
we are rockin and rollin
25 to 30 is 29 knots again
it's going to be a rough ride hopefully
we don't do any damage to the boat on
the way over
not what the forecast said let it stay
out here 10 to 15
25 miles of this
you
very not the wind
Hey
goes inside $20
yeah there's no way you're gonna get him
to stand up
pretty fun still some breaks I guess but
and it's pretty fun
but I like it like this yes
yeah there's a big way out I know it's a
big rollercoaster ride so we got our
life jackets they're not on because
we're all sitting comfortably in the
cockpit but they're ready they're right
here
they're on just pass them out just you
know just to be on the safe side
actually that's mine son
Crysta bikini and a life jacket
creaking noises the jib sheet units
shackled take straight right now
oh we're close were close a long day of
lots of wind
how you doing Tiger feeling any better
well thanks TV beginning a little bit
tougher a little crazier
I don't have to say well it's fine
hopefully it will be in the Lee of
Martinique soon a tugboat just cut us
off I did just buy course which puts
broadside more broadside than we are to
the waves and the cockpit and we it yeah
we had a couple inches of water
screaming around inside here from a wave
that's been a fun ride today right winds
wind got strongest we hit thirty three
point seven knots and my curling chalk
cam cleat blew up we had this incredibly
loud bang kind of blew up now we're
starting to get in leave the island and
things are calming down a bit but Wow
we're brief but it just wasn't enough
when I hit 34 knots so the jib furler so
now
used to go up here like that but of
course it come on
have got to either
he's got another one of those or go and
buy one
okay Krista back down on it
[Music]
hard reverse this is a really sweet spot
Hey
[Music]
look at this place
Wow
[Music]
yeah that's hot
that's what all right we're here
st. Pierre Martinique
[Music]
you're speechless how cool isn't it's
like we're in Europe of course it's kind
of some of the prices are who dumped you
look in there this is where the volcano
Mount Pele exploded in 1902 and it
killed 30,000 people and there look at
the ruins on the old church
pretty cool hey Quall well that's it for
this episode we'll see you next time on
trio
[Music]
