last time on sailing tips you tipsy we
share our travels from Tagalog to what
we thought would be Meldrum bay instead
we stopped for a couple days in Gore Bay
to work on alternator issues while in
CagA Wong we enjoy their beautiful
bridal veil falls for a long hike with
the dogs and beautiful trails
despite the boat issues we enjoy much of
what gourmet has to offer before making
your way back to Michigan
[Music]
our summer flew by after our visit to
the North Channel we had quite a few
obligations to take care of and then a
whirlwind of goodbyes to have where each
of our families we decided to continue
adventuring and make our way east around
Michigan after stopping in rogers city
to clear customs we then made our way to
the Thunder Bay shores marina in my
hometown of El Pina Michigan we would
only be there for a couple days to enjoy
family and friends before continuing the
voyage my nieces especially enjoyed
being on the boat and of course the dogs
enjoyed their company too from there we
were off to meet their ins mom and tawa
city and barons dad in Harbor Beach both
stops were so much fun and the scale
between the two places was the best yet
we had 25 knots of wind and a direct
route across to the thumb we stayed at
quite a few marinas around the east side
of Michigan because there are rarely any
spots to anchor Jefferson Beach Marina
is one of them and the largest who had
ever stayed at we loved this marina and
gave us an incredible state with much to
explore around crows Point and Detroit
we also got more work done on our sail
[Music]
with extra space to spare although we
had such an incredible time in Detroit
we took very little footage during this
time a shout-out to Courtney and David
Watson for letting us enjoy a/c and
their locked for a few days another to
John and Amin for catching up and a big
things to all of them for showing us
such delicious beer along the way
and right now we're going down the
Detroit River passing belle-isle which
is right in the middle of Canada in
Detroit
and it's beautiful weather
that many powerboat
readers but
[Music]
all right we're almost to put in bay Sun
is starting to set rain is definitely
coming in so we gotta take the dogs out
really quick once we get to the mooring
ball and then scramble back to the boat
so that we can get ready for a nice
dinner on shore
we made it to put in bay and were
randomly greeted with the national
anthem and a beautiful park to walk the
dogs we didn't know what to expect and
we're pleasantly happy about what we
would get into for the next couple days
it'd be a perfect spot to celebrate our
first anniversary going back to the boat
jumping off the docks then we are going
to go explore because this place is
really cool
potin bay is a party town there are more
golf carts than any golf course and as
many bars per block as Vegas that's not
much of an exaggeration we were in for a
treat they're gonna know I was swinging
at the bye
it's so cool mojito baby button there
[Music]
[Music]
one two margaritas two mojitos and one
beer later this is what their looks like
[Music]
everybody freaking be Zuri
all right the dogs think that they're
going outside but we're just gonna go
check out this Monument
the Perry memorial monument
we're in put-in-bay Ohio
the marina has picked up a whole lot
in the marina right there people just
tie up to each other there's like some
flips but then people just start tying
up and the first people to leave got to
be the first ones closest to the accent
basically
Aaron's driving us dogs are excited I'm
happy
[Music]
yes don't be amazing spun Bay in the
daytime
we're gonna go run to a golf cart
go to the monument
go to the top of that
cruise around to some of the parts and
go around the island although this place
is mostly for people to get away on
party there are lots of trails to hike
and some history to tune into as well we
wanted to go to the top of the monument
that means we also decided to rent a
golf cart our first stop was to the
beach we had heard of some algae growing
in Lake Erie and decided not to swim but
still enjoyed their nature trails before
heading back towards the monument there
that have other things that restricts
Florida
let us know all right we're walking
again going up to the fourth largest
monument in the United States Dan
oh wow it's real tall it's pretty windy
I'm getting a little nervous we're gonna
go to the top though this monument
commemorates the Battle of Lake Erie
the views were incredible but the wind
was flustered and still maybe nervous
being up so high we stayed up for a good
15 minutes and decided we'd like to golf
cart around the island and stuff
[Music]
[Music]
there's actually Novell carts on the
actual golf course which is kind of
funny
we took a quick pit stop so that we
could check out this awesome field of
grapes vineyard look at this those are
some massive massive
mushrooms here's my hand for reference
keep out
there's a lot of them though
smells so good
they were teeny exploring but we're golf
cart
every eye you have the different
bed
chose bar
cheers me
dinner I've got a great view of the
monument right here Theron is charging
our phones like good husband would and
we just ordered some conch fritters and
some hussars painkillers it's pretty
dark between those trees and it's very
windy tomorrow we're planning on going
to Kelly island which is the neighboring
island to south and we're gonna see your
friend today
really drunk people this place was a lot
of fun but much crazier than we are we
enjoy our occasional beers but it seemed
like this town never sleeps bachelorette
parties cover the town every weekend and
each bar is almost always packed during
the high-speed
we of course had our fun visiting many
of them as well but the most fun was
driving around that golf cart all day
renting a golf cart is always highly
recommended
we mostly drove around and watched
people to be crazy after returning the
golf cart we made our way back to the
boardwalk to listen to more little music
enjoying the remaining parts of our
anniversary retreated back to tipsy for
a nice
wine in here to drink on the one-year we
have a replacement bottle of mead to put
in there for next year we're gonna do it
every year and read love letters to each
other
we learned that put-in-bay is a fun stop
and gave us a very memorable first year
anniversary besides two extremely rocky
mooring field it was a nice place to
visit check it out if you're nearby
you'll be pleasantly happy you did
next time on sailing tipsy gypsy will
share with you our plans to keep
traveling heading to Cleveland we check
out Cuyahoga Falls and make our way to
Buffalo New York then we have our mast
stepped and head to the entrance of the
Erie Canal please subscribe to our
Channel and give us a thumbs up
Cheers
