there we go again estimate these self
inching levers at the end of this
brand-new boom well you know what brand
new boon to me but it's actually useful
Boone died that I got there free and
we're going to be using on the boat this
year so anyway the the mouse and boom
the painted island is getting kind of
worn and thin and we got corrosion at
the end and whatnot I don't like black
on a boom anywhere shiny and other way
so we're going to have to clean it up so
part of our preparation it's going to be
the pressure washer we're going to blast
off all the aluminum oxide and any loose
paint and whatnot and after that we're
going to use a sander clean it up rather
any of those rough edges out so that the
lethal plank this video we're going to
use a white filling primer on this and
it's topside metal primer that we're
going to shoot and then finally we're
going to use a topside I gloss white
design ash
oisin the USC miles away so let's begin
with getting ready for our pressure
washing in the preparation of our mast
and boom were at the part where we're
going to use this 3500 psi pressure
washer that's going to with a very
narrow we're going to believe I'm
running a 15th Greek to go on this this
is going to be able to knock off pretty
well any kind of loose paint and
particulate just on Koosman and the boom
this will quickly let me prepare it and
after that we're going to use a random
orbital to feather in some of the paint
chips before we hit it with the timer
and then finally with some high-gloss
marine paint so let's start this puppy
up and see what we can get out of 3,500
pounds

so we're all prepped up to sand the mask
we're going to sand down all the rough
spots trying to get it looking as smooth
as possible because ultimately prep work
in making a nice gloss look and finish
it's all about how nice you sand down
the rough spots how nice filled old
paint feathers in and then we're going
to do some priming and to coat of a
gloss Tom side pane so off we go and
let's do some sand
[Music]
[Applause]
so on someone more difficult spots like
right here with a stays attached I've
had to sandblast so that it cleans up
really nice and the brand-new paint has
good clean surface to stick and if the
paint will end up having the the most
protection for this mask so I got one
more place at the other end of the mask
which I've a different difficult spot so
I'm going to quickly sandblast it and
then this mask is what finished in the
sanding portion but and then we have to
move on to the cleaning I'm going to
wash it with degreaser D wax or silicone
remover and after that I'm going to hit
all the bare metal with zinc chromate
primer and then once that dries up we're
going to paint the whole mask with a
very light coat of white primer so that
the base is all the same color okay
moving on
[Music]
now they were done sanding me back I'm
going to need to wash it with with this
tumbler silicone and wax also removes
grease essentially going to wipe down
the whole map just before I hit the zinc
chromate primer in all of their spots so
away I go
[Music]
now that we've got it all washed and
it's degreased and there's no wax on it
what we're going to do is my preference
is to use zinc chromate primer I could
zinc chromate on any anything that's got
bare metal for it and once that once
that's all dried up and cured then we
will be painting it with a metal type
white primer so that the whole map is
white the uniform color and then we'll
lay down our gloss coat on top of that
so let's go and do something chromate

what a successful day we managed to get
the full mast zinc prime zinc chromate
primer and it will dry overnight and
then tomorrow morning we're going to set
up this mast on a rotating type of table
so that we can do a base coat finish
coat on the primer which we're going to
do the white primer to can make this
whole mass white then we're going to
turn around and let that dry and do a
tap coat finish coat on the gloss so
every will have a finished mass this
will be fantastic I can't wait because I
want to rig it up and I want to get it
come on
to the boat so if you like what you see
