in the world like most travelers I love
to cook but my newest adventure has
taken me somewhere where energy is a
commodity so I'm gonna start a new
channel it's called wattage eat today's
episode of why did you eat is cooking
quiche on a boat so we're gonna measure
using this kilowatt device to see how
many watch me use and I'm gonna be
sauteing some spinach mushroom and
garlic over here before I bake my quiche
and I'm tiny toaster oven oh all right
stop kilowatt meter is set at zero plug
in I'm burning it says that he's drawing
seven an hour and 55 watts
instead it's zero right now two kilowatt
hours we'll just watch that

toaster oven pre-heated and looks like
the kilowatt meter is that 0.24 kilowatt
hours and if we look over here at this
wattage meter it says that we need room
Oh point four four kilowatt hours that
means if we were to run our wind turbine
which we haven't yet put up but once it
is up if we have 20 mile an hour winds
we would have to gather energy for just
over two hours to be able to push the
car keys here which isn't too bad
well my keys turned out delicious and I
ended up I didn't some garlic toast to
it so when it was all said and done it
ended up taking an even 0.5 kilowatt
hours so just a little bit more over the
to our estimate for 20 mile an hour
winds with our 1/1 hello hello welcome
to what a jiggy hello well it's been a
fine episode of what did you ate this is
this oh this and this are devices that
we will use on our following episodes
this measures AC wattage this measures
DC 1 inch this I can put directly on the
battery in line with the power inverter
in between that way we were actually off
the grid and cooking on a battery
we know our actual battery consumption
and the inefficiency of the power
inverter and it'll help us decide if we
should try to cook on a 12-volt system
or if we'd stick with a 120 volt
appliances we have now but it will also
help us to get the exact get a good shot
of this guy yeah
plugs right in the line with the battery
and the power inverter handles up to 100
amps so hundred amps is 12 volts it'll
do 1200 Watts and it rewards the hours
too yeah
you can negate using this if you are
able to generate a hundred and twenty
volts save you had 120 volt turbine but
nobody has those everything's twelve
volts so let's get a generator
we did it on our first episode it is a
voyage it's a voyage off the grid yeah
we're not there yet but we hope you
enjoyed watching this first episode of
water to eat we'll see you next time we
have tons of plans and the works
you
