it's very bright already we are just a
couple miles away from the entrance of
the river of Gambia we have the perfect
timing with the tides in about 3-4 hours
it will be high tide so we will enter
the river in a high tide with the
current from behind sunrise in a new
country we are in Gambia
[Music]

holiday it's the first of may day of the
workers we have to wait until tomorrow
to do the paper work
[Music]

shore with the kayak without help from a
local it's almost impossible to clear in
into this country
we got the lucky choker and had help of
a man from the Gambian Navy what was
your name again
big yellow I walk in the Navy are you
from the Navy yeah
if sailors arrived you help them how to
do the customs and for
yeah I just didn't necessarily ask you
our stringers yeah I mean I want to be
just assistant so that will find it very
easy to be today
okay custom already in Gresham okay
check and this is a for free old we have
to pay you something no I'm not
requesting this for for any payment okay
yeah I'm just doing my own voluntary
service Wow yeah it is not that because
I'm expecting something from you oh
there's a payment for it no screaming
free okay yeah we are servicemen we are
rendering service to the public
yeah being a citizen being launched
within so long you are in The Gambia

it took us No
we went to the police to the customs
then they had to make some photocopies
of the papers
the organized SIM card for the
smartphone
first we need some money we are back on
board
it worked very well a nice guy from the
Navy helped us we have to pay $60 each
for the visa for stay one months in the
country right along now the paperwork
was done and we sailed to five miles to
the lawmen Lukesh
[Music]
we have to Harbormaster my name is jii
boy this is lemon lodge de cambiar i am
the master in lemon watch here like
doing lot of services for the boats
coming in know like the yards and like
most of the silsila providing water
arranging taxi for the laundries if they
want to clean their food so if they want
to keep their ports is a good place to
keep boots and also like for the sailors
comin in The Gambia like for the first
time is in West Africa is always
difficult like about the paperwork's
especially in binder so it's a big
problem for them to like do they are
people walks like in different places
what like is better like to have my
contacts or my address before coming to
tell me in advance so that I can easily
help for the people works and stuff like
that you know why should sailors come to
Gambia and Gambia is a beautiful country
it's a peaceful country in West Africa
and landlord is a good spot like for the
civil servant and I considered like and
always Africa like gamba is the best
part
to visit I think you know so far west
africa was a good spot to spot annoy is
a good spot to visit radicals Africa for
beginners for the beginners it's a good
sport
sure they were a very friendly and very
time the countries were safe you can
walk by your own everywhere you have no
problem whole day so the contracting is
one of the best place we've got a dis my
little coast of West Africa but is
smiling Gambia and you said in winter
you have quite a lot of sailors here
yeah in winter like we have almost like
25 to 25 votes coming you know what like
before you know the country like West
Africa like we have a lot of troubles
like about the molars and stuff like
that and people is scare about coming to
us Africa and stuff like that but now we
expecting like more service community
can be a the good thing is you can just
anchor you're in the creek
yeah you are free to drop your uncle
everywhere well you know you're tired
you're bored in the man group or if you
want to live anymore and it's possible
because some of the people like yeah
they keep their boots like for the whole
summer and it's a good place and a safe
place to camp or sooner
[Music]
it's a cool here looks very nice very
calm the only sound is from the musician
is drumming over there and the birds and
they have monkey and their monkeys here
[Music]
[Music]
this is a small fishing harbour where
fishermen are going to cut shrimps and
women are going to collect oysters after
they talk to oysters out of the shells
they burnt the shells to produce white
paint out of it yeah the leftovers of
the oysters is a delicious meal for the
vultures the village called limine is a
circa minutes walk from the limine
launch it consists of a couple of houses
a medical centre schools mosques and the
main highway which is going to bundle
[Music]
there are phone keys and chicken in the
street fresh meat is hanging in front of
the battery there is a local bakery and
different workshops there are no
supermarkets you can buy the food on the
street or in small shops
[Music]
