Oh hi! I can't wait to show you what
we've been discovering around Xavier in
between looking for boats. In this episode of sailing ABSea, Barry and I explore the
surrounding areas of Javea, including
windmills from the 16th century, a
163 year old lighthouse and the beautiful
cove at Granadella.
Wow what do you think of that Baz? Good
drive wasn't it? Yeah it was just so
pretty. Playa de la Granadella
Awesome
The Cove at Playa Granadella was so
picturesque that we plan to anchor there
and do some more exploring once we've
bought our yacht. Next we're off to check
out the 163 year old lighthouse at Cap
de San Antoni
Learning all about what's up here? Yes and what to do and what not to do. You're not
allowed to stroke snails - no bad karaoke -
and you're not allowed to make the
flowers sad.
if you look towards the ridgeline to the
north of Javea, you can clearly see the
remains of windmill structures. The
windmills were built between the 14th
and 18th centuries and we used to grind
wheat and other cereals that were grown
in the area. There were originally 11
windmills but now only six remain, some
of which are privately owned and have
been restored for use as small but cozy
residences.
So that up there you can see behind me
is windmill and this whole ridge line
here above the town of Javea is
dotted with these windmills. There's one
you can see that has the remnants of its
wind sail. It looks like somebody's
turned that into our house now because
there's a little garden just beyond that
chain link fence. But the other great
thing about coming up to this ridgeline
to look at the windmills and get a
close-up of them is that once you're up
here you can get a fantastic view of the
town of Javea from up above.
In the next episode of sailing ABC were
back in the hire car as we continue
our search for a yacht to buy and we
also take some time out to explore the
Calaveras Caves inhabited by humans some 50,000 years ago. So if you liked this
episode give us a THUMBS UP and do
SUBSCRIBE because it really helps us out
and DING that BELL and we'll let you
know when a new episode comes out. Yep.
So we'll catch you soon. Yeah. See ya!
