A B Sea has been out of the water for a

month now and we've got a bit of an

issue at the keel which could cost us a lot of time and money. Come and take a look

So this is where our keel meets our hull.

Now this join here has got a flexible

Sikaflex in there which wasn't replaced

when we had it all looked at in Spain

but it's caused a bit of an issue. As you

can see most of the hull and the keel is

all dried out but you can still see some damp

patches here and that dampness is oozing

from between the keel and hull joint. Now

what we've got to do is we've got to

scrape all of that sikaflex that's in the

joints out to let the air get in there

and really allow things to dry out. It's

happening on both sides I'll show you

the other side in a second. The concern

is that salt water ingress has happened

there and if it has and it's been - we've

been in the water for nearly two years

then we could potentially have a problem

with the keel bolts rusting. The keel

bolts are big bolts that run up through

the hull and get attached with big nuts

inside the bilge. So we've got to clean

this out, let it dry up properly, we'll

ask a few people here in the yard in

particular Harris who knows a lot about

boats what his opinion is about the keel

bolts. It may be then we've got to drop

the keel and

inspect the bolts. That's time-consuming and

very financially costly.

So Harris is the

boatyard owner and I want his expert

opinion on what his advice is on what's

happening here with the keel and the

hull.

As you can see we've still got some dampness coming through from the seal here.

I think

we must, you must ... take all of this out?

All out, very good. So no wet. Yeah. So first first this?

Oh it's nothing, it's normal. Okay.

Well that's encouraging news from Harris

so it seems that the problem is not as big as

we first thought it was. All we got to do

now is get the scrapers out and start

scraping this little baby, but it's a

boring job so I won't keep you guys

hanging around for that

One of the

reasons why we delayed this whole thing

was because we were waiting for this one

This came from - our son Luke - Australia and

again this is a lot of stuff that we've

bought for ourselves that we he had sent

to him in Australia because we thought

he was coming out for a holiday and he

could bring it with him. Plans changed so

we have to get it mailed over. Yeah

He's done a good job packing it up in a

small box hasn't he? Yeah

This is a gas saving

device. This is a 12 volt water heater - oh brilliant! - so that we don't have to put the gas on it every

time somebody on board wants a cup of

tea or coffee and seeing as I don't drink

tea and coffee I'll leave you to your

own conclusions.

Oh and nutritional yeast

seasoning adds a really good flavour and Vitamin B12 and lots of other B complex vitamins to food.

You can see that you can mount a GoPro on this

but this nice little thing is gonna be

hooked around our drone with a piece

that's in that box there so that the

drone can be caught by grabbing hold

of what's in the box.

because I'm going to be the one catching

the drone and we all know how not

So this is the other part that will go with this. They will

attach to each other like this. That'll

be strapped around the body of the

drone and then that would be the grip

you grab hold of to catch the drone. Thank gawd

Ah of I'd forgotten I'd ordered this. This is a rangefinder

It's go a cleaning cloth with it too. Yeah

So - laser type - it's a laser

rangefinder which is kind of handy if

you want to make - find things!

It's very handy for making Med mooring

decisions on when to let you drop your

chain so you can sort like aim where

you're gonna Med moore - yes - find out the

distance then know --- drop the anchor

now so we don't get to the end of the

Med mooring - not enough chain - manouevre

and find out that we've let the anchor

out just that little bit too far out and

we've run out of chain. That's a good

idea

yeah I'm sure it'll come in handy for

other things won't it? yep

So let's have a look at this now

let's unbox this one a little bit more. It's a

tripod and it's a bendy one

but it's not those silly ball and joint ones

the gorilla grip type. They're okay but they break eventually.

So that will work in conjunction

with that one there for us to mount because

this ... these are all super bendy and

they will grip lots of things. Yes and

then if you want you can attach this

don't ask me how to - this to this and

then you've got you know 360 degree

angles so it's fabulous and and this can

also just be selfie stick as well and as

can that so. Yep. Marvellous.

It's so exciting. I'm glad that it was only the

things that I'd ordered that weren't

delivered. That would have been really

upsetting. Something somebody had

ordered us something and it hadn't got here coz the guy couldn't find the place

So that was our Christmas unwrapping

We were going into limni today to watch

the fetching of the Holy Cross from the

water where people actually swim in to

get the crucifix from the church. It's a

religious ceremony that happens here but

it's so cold and it's so wet we just

didn't want to do that on the scooter

today. However we would like to welcome

So we're having a cold spell at

the moment. It's cold, it's wet, it's windy

and blustery and there's sleet expected as well

Let me show you the boatyard dog

Bobby. He's sitting there with a really

thick fur coat and he's weathering all

kinds of wind and rain and sleet that

we're getting at the moment. It's down to

three degrees today and it's possibly

going to drop to zero or maybe even

minus zero so hmm.
