In this week's video "COVID-19 Kicked out of Puerto Rico" we sail the beautiful Mona passage and encounter several whales, not all of which were captured on ...

last time when sailing balachander we
showed you some mannequin mannequin
republic and we spent a two week for
rotavirus quarantine at the beautiful
lhasa t6 national park you're new to our
channel hi I'm Noel and I'm Dan and
we're selling Bella Chandra
we're just sailing around the Caribbean
right now and if you haven't already

what's our quarantine period in the
Dominican Republic was ended we decided
it was a good time to push on as the Bay
of Samana has no ideal place to ride out
a hurricane and it was important for us
to move on so we could find a place
where we could survive the upcoming
hurricane season
blow on their spouts
see there's a publish more than it's
probably like for them
another one just below
[Music]
we're just along in the Mona
passage it's the piece of water range
between Dominican Republic and Puerto
Rico and it is really our first taste of
the actual Caribbean Sea because of the
coronavirus we wanted to get propane we
wanted to get gasoline and we wanted to
get some food supplies the gasoline
didn't happen we did get propane
surprisingly and we did get food we
ended up buying most of our supplies at
convenience stores but luckily we were
able to find a few things that actually
found some beer we loaded up the dinghy
with what we could we got a mustachios
and we plugged out of dominican republic
and now when we arrived in Puerto Rico
we'll be quarantined again but yeah the
motor passage it's beautiful we were
given a lot of warning about the
conditions here in the morning passage
and the currents so far we've found it's
been quite manageable right now we have
a pretty calm conditions but we chose a
pretty decent weather we're gonna travel
we're in some beautiful water
the seas are calm we plan to check in in
Porto al in Puerto Rico which is on the
east coast of Puerto Rico and it is one
of the only torts that is accepting
yachts to do their customs paperwork
during the coronavirus situation
hopefully it is true and we can get
ourselves back in this while with the
world going crazy and I'm so cruising
and we're staying safe that's what's
important
[Music]
music we were in Porto rayul which is in
Puerto Rico we arrived here a couple
days ago and we used the app on the
phone called CBP Rome and that worked
out pretty good
until they told us that we needed our
cruising license which we were supposed
to pick up at the dock and so we were
checked in we raised our flag then we
went to the dock to get our cruising
license and the customs guy met us there
and said that we couldn't get the
cruising license because due to the
kovat 19 pandemic situation they don't
want anybody touring around they want
people to either stay in ports or not
come at all yeah they didn't seem too
pleased about us coming here but anyway
it wasn't illegal or wrong at the time
but they told us that we had to stay on
our boat and that we're not allowed
ashore it's a heavy curfew and
everything and if they catch you ashore
there's like a five thousand dollar fine
and six months in prison and all this
bad stuff so we decided that that sucks
and we are allowed to anchor so that
should extend to other Anchorage's
anyway we're gonna try to do that and
sort of pick our way along the south
coast of Puerto Rico until we get to a
spot where we can jump over to the US
Virgin Islands because the US Virgin
Islands quarantine is not quite as
strict that sounds like a better idea
we're gonna do that it's a shame that
we're gonna miss what beauty Puerto Rico
has to offer but sometimes you have to
roll with the punches I guess they say
we're all dealing with the pandemic as
best we can
and it kind of neuters you're cruising
down to literally just traveling there's
not much enjoyment you can't really do
any of the fun local things you can't
see too much but we're going to make the
best of it and hopefully by the time we
get to the Li words and windward islands
there will be one or two of those open
that we can enter and
hopefully we'll be able to pick our way
farther south so that we can get out of
the hurricane zone it's still early it's
gonna be April like tomorrow I think and
we have you know until June July to get
out of the Hurricanes I think we can do
it they can't continue to close the
ports and have everything on lockdown
that long I mean maybe they will but
we'll see how it goes
wish us luck
[Music]
we decided to leave portal rail and move
along the coast so now we're sailing on
the south coast of Puerto Rico
we're hoping to drop anchor at
Gilligan's Island there's a nice little
Anchorage so that we can stop for the
night and hopefully we won't get spoken
to by the police because we were told
that the police boats would come and
question you and try to get you to move
on because they don't want actually I
don't think they want any boats out
cruising
