This week on Kawai we leave Central Corfu after some R and R and head for Southern Corfu as we make our way South, next stop Preveza. On our way South we sto...

last week on Kauai we left Croatia on
dark and began a two-night Passage to
Greece we experienced all the magic of
an overnight passage and what drew us to
this sailing life being a little more
remote we got to witness nature at its
best moonlit nights stunning sunrises
and sunsets messy seas dolphins big fish
and we also had a bit of fun catching
various inflatables this time chase
continues to chase inflatables managing
to rescue a unicorn sailing life can be
complete contrast from day to day and
this week we get to enjoy life in the
Ionian with crystal-clear Anchorage's
and perfect sailing conditions as we
catch the prevailing northerly wind -
provider
waking up to this view is a daily
reminder of the adventure we are on and
how exciting and fulfilling this
lifestyle can be a simple coffee on the
deck before exploring new places never
gets old two weeks and core food had
flown by and we were ready to venture to
new waters our plan was to head south
cruising down the coast of Corfu before
sailing 45 nautical miles to Professor
[Music]
for interest sake this is where we
checked into Greece the
Shabba Bowl party and over
there is the
after researching agents to check us
into Greece and finding the standard
rate to be 250 euros we decided to
complete the process ourselves and we
were happy we did because despite what
we had heard it was quite simple though
a little time consuming after paying the
new tip I tax online we headed to the
port police in the commercial harbour
near Old Town Corfu then onto customs
then finally back to port police to
complete the process they were all
finally with diesel just then thanks to
you rubia marina which is where we got a
few
aren't really sure where we office
leaves not this evening when it's gonna
see how we go
[Music]
for change we could be kings and queens
[Music]
so let's go
[Music]
what you doing that privilege reserved
just listening to a audiobook and taking
in the beautiful afternoon we've just
arrived here Oh a little while ago it's
cold per treaty and it's very pretty
it's beautiful it's like a kind of the
base of coffee yeah yeah it is beautiful
it's nice Ave I think we're gonna spend
a couple of days here what do you listen
to do you recommend that's interesting
all about the history brief history of
humankind so yeah it's very interesting
well if those two big water bottles
mm-hmm what's for dinner
it's a curry and it's quite hot Panang
curry coconut cream lots of veggies
sweet potato it's really good and we're
watching Charlie Wilson's War and
Netflix in the sunset oh yeah of course
in a sunset
what's happening today well we're just
going to go explore this little place
some really crystal-clear water in there
which we want to swim in this afternoon
we've just got a really go into town and
check it out and there's two really nice
two burners up on the buns up on the
hill to stop they're not going out for a
while
it's just too tempting isn't it yeah
they they both have really good reviews
and ones a traditional Greek savannah
yeah and it's just so nice
we've moved down to the foot of Corfu
and suck a different place should come
down a little bit earlier um yeah we're
here now we want to make the most of it
secret
this is the other option for ativan and
tonight
[Music]
after struggling to make a decision we
chose to experience a little of each
place and we're happy we do
[Music]
[Music]
[Music]
all right it's just what you dreamed of
when I said let's go sailing I really
didn't know what to expect I probably
say that it is what I dreamed of like I
was excited about finding new locations
and dropping the anchor and now we've
pulled up in a beautiful little Bay
that's got blue water and come up to a
little restaurants on the beach
have a beer they really weren't
expecting it worried no we didn't know
this place existed we just thought it
was a little bit more protected in the
corner of Corfu so it came here and then
we were pleasantly surprised which seems
to be what always happens never been in
a hammock you think
[Laughter]
really I believe you
walking through the bush we've gone from
beautiful blue water and very tropical
we can get him to do it track hopefully
that's not a scene over an Australian
outback movie is like Ring the outback
caliper treaty seems to be mostly a
fishing village and is a pretty chill
place with locals hanging out and
enjoying a beer along with a few
tourists
hello you look stunning can't answer
dear you chariot awaits
sailing long-term means we have to stick
to a set budget and while we enjoy
experiencing the local culture and
cuisines we have to limit dining out to
once a week make the most of it one
weekend I was wondering what this is
that is coffee burning and apparently
that keeps the wasps away which is a
probably a pretty big thing in Greece
there's a lot of wasps in Meghan easy
and Corfu and if you car so this is what
they're doing the restaurants to keep
them away and on our boats we only
learnt that recently from some friends
of ours on but the Sun is rising and
today we are off to a provider leaving
coffee engine is on
it's real shame that we're leaving here
it's nice when your anchor is in sand
but unfortunately the next three or four
days there's some bad weather coming in
so yeah I don't mind the the wind so
much is gonna be a swell so we're in
Corfu and it's like a bit of a channel
so the swell rolls in and we're down
southern end and we're going to come
the whimsy here finally off to provider
finally the winds are here we left
coffee this morning just before
lunchtime and we know that the north
northwesterly winds will pick up around
lunchtime in the ionian so which is
pretty well spot-on what they've done
today which will give us a good 60 our
sail to freezer I think the whole trips
about 45 nautical miles which should
allow us to anchor just before it gets
dark
so should work out pretty well the winds
aren't crazy strong at the moment but
they're meant to pick up and that's why
we're going to check to bear for visa
because for the next three days it's
meant to be gone between 20 and 30 knots
so which isn't too bad but it still will
be nice projected Anchorage and we are
wanting to get south so that's what
we're doing
[Music]
[Applause]
tell me about the current sailing
absolutely I'm trying to ruin your
flowing roughly 30 knots I got six
wind's coming from the north-northwest
and we're cruising down the mainland
towards pervasive so we should be there
in a couple of hours hurry out
[Applause]
so it's now four o'clock so yeah we
should get around 7:00 perfect timing to
anchor
[Applause]
the wings it has it's been beautiful and
hopefully now with a bit of chop every
to speed that catfish are you just gonna
make friends with tuner again our just
coming into Preveza
you're gonna have to pull down the sails
and just out the front there's a bit of
a
and narrow channel that you've got to go
into so we'll pull it down and then the
narrow channel which is a bit of a
current that comes to it through this
it's not too bad
lookey waves rolling in so Christ I'll
just have to take that pretty carefully
before we anchor just off the the town
of Kavita
we are approaching the entrance
supervisor I've got these chartplotter
on and the backup in case the iPad that
has a little slack attack which it does
sometimes as we go through because sides
are quite shallow straight from the
channel so I'll be watching that I've
also got the radio ready just in case
and the iPad ready at which I will be
monitoring the channel room and I will
also be keeping watch for one two three
four other boats that seem to be
approaching the channel at same time
here we go we are entering the channel
into professor and I talked about all
the devices that I will be looking at I
will also
not the channel blockers which pretty
damn important
[Music]
[Music]
[Music]
[Music]
they've we've just arrived
we're van kid yep just in time that's
big storm I don't think it's gonna come
our way but we were just looking at the
edge of it we're here and it's cruising
down past this way but we've already got
a next-door neighbor is dragged over
there so he's reentering we've got no
one in front of us so we kind of trust
well we don't kinda trust we trust our
anchor but we've only got two and a half
times scoped out at the moment there's
there's quite a lot of boats in this
Anchorage keeping watch out here
I'm keeping watch on crack to be you're
cooking up a fat meal and fat Wow
healthy I'm half a beer in it's bad yeah
watch now make sure that we don't drag
we've just arrived and it's always that
first a little bit of time that's
probably most likely especially with
strong winds and
since wells rolling in so yeah that's
quite a nice it here it is after two
days of strong winds we're finally able
to head in and check out provider
provider is a popular destination and
wintering place for liver boards with
Cleopatra marina having the largest dry
dock in Greece a new marina in town and
a large safe bay to anchor the
waterfront is now quite modern with a
variety of cafes and restaurants and as
you can see is also a popular place for
us to tie to the Town Key creating a
vibrant and lively atmosphere we decided
to head into the back streets to search
for a traditional Greek restaurant we
had heard was a good experience after
wandering the many alleyways we found
the tavern or we were looking for good
dad's gonna be so proud of you
[Music]
you
that's the CEO Mia
caffeine
yeah pork-belly
that's 500 grams and pop
[Music]
15 is driving Dulles
she's just unreal
grace turning it on yeah
sorry
[Music]
cool music playing
great atmosphere yes
on Sunday
hey it's not some skills here I wouldn't
say I'm overly skillful at this
I don't got so since I was maybe 10
years old you're looking like you know
you're doing it turns out alright yeah
well something's definitely a skill you
need on a sailboat it's always something
that needs fixing true your track pants
next can you sell undies so I just need
to find some new one yeah no dude no
dude he looks quite boring hey and
that's because it is this is the most we
have been able to see of the Necropolis
archaeological site part the museum and
gave up yonder Preveza home leaving for
visa today
to come here to the couplers it's
Tuesday
overnight - May - I everyday
parfum Tuesday it was Tuesday we've
walked five K's to get here yeah she's
pretty warm day Pramod Ryan
Jason speak banging on about this for a
while I've gotta go see some stuffing
for visa we worth it
yeah stayed an extra day here and fourth
shuttle on a Tuesday should have known
we tried to look at the information
about this morning but I mean it didn't
work well just uh just how it is gotta
walk back a back thank you thank you
yeah fail no got to see things you're
wondering what I'm getting footage of
just uh a memory a memory of this scenic
walking to it you took us on to the
closed archaeological museum for
Nicopolis
and this is the scenic road we've been
walking along for 5k oh really
[Applause]
thanks for watching and I know you've
all been waiting around to watch Jace
rescue this unicorn so there goes Jace
he's off to rescue a unicorn
here's the guy swimming to rescue his
unicorn he's very keen it's quite a long
way from sure now and he comes Jase
hero of the day with the unicorn you
might actually need to take the guy back
into Shore because he's so far out as
well so double rescue there for Jase
well done unicorn reunited with his
owner I'm sure he's very happy
[Music]
it's okay a devotion please read
