Sailing A Perfect Day in Ailuk Lagoon Sailing the Marshall Islands A perfect sailing day for us on anchor in Ailuk Lagoon. With no wind we get the toys out and get some great Drone shots while paddle boarding. A fun filled day was had, swimming, paddle boarding and a scuba dive. We take Dave the Dinghy out to the Outer reef and dive a crystal clear blue wall. Our best day on the water. We are Jo and Rob and we are here to share our sailing adventures with you. In 2016, inspired by the likes of ‘Delos’, ‘Sailing La Vagabonde’ and ‘Gone with The Wynns’, we sold up everything we owned and bought our 40ft, Fountaine Pajot ‘Lipari 41 Evo’ sailing catamaran ‘Double Trouble’. We had no sailing experience whatsoever, so the past few years have been a huge learning curve. We thought it might be fun to document our travels for anyone thinking of following a similar lifestyle. So far we have visited 7 different countries and sailed over 13,000 nautical miles. We have had many unique experiences that would not have been possible in our prior life and we don’t regret a second. We're both super keen on protecting our precious environment, so amongst other things, we both follow a plant based diet. You wont find any fishing footage on this channel! well it's fairly early in the morning
we're in the northernmost anchorage at
ilock
beautiful night last night no wind to
speak of today
for the first time in quite a while
actually we've had
sort of 20 ish knots of wind most of the
time we've been here
so then we've got a couple of days of
fairly benign weather apart from the
slight rain here and there so it's
raining at the moment
a little bit um but yeah this is uh
beautiful in here today
it's flat calm hoping the clouds will
clear off a little bit
and then the sun will come out and we'll
get out and enjoy the day

saturday morning and check that out
people it's not often that you see this
in the marshall islands
no wind whatsoever it is flat calm in
here it's beautiful eh and you are
filling dive tanks because we are going
to go and see if we can get out to the
outer roof today
yep we're going to wait for the tide and
then andrew went through the cut
yesterday
there's a little area there that we can
sneak out
and uh it's meant to be lovely hopefully
if we can see some fishies but this is
just a dilute i'm going to put the
paddle board in in a second
it's very hot but it's very beautiful
and like i say it's literally
it's just flat to come
[Music]
when we moved on board double trouble
four years ago we had a romantic notion
of enjoying a far-flung pacific
paradise
[Music]
we have had many memorable days on the
water since then
but today was one of the really great
ones
[Music]
flat calm with a scattering of clouds
and almost
no wind gave the water a glass out
[Music]
quality
[Applause]
[Music]
do
[Music]
we could see clearly through the water
and marvel at the schools of fish while
enjoying the attention of curious eagle
rays
and baby reef sharks
[Music]
the marshall islands weather usually
provides a consistent
trade wind breeze of around 20 to 25
knots
june and july are less windy months
however
days like this are few and far between
[Music]
with such great conditions it was a
perfect opportunity for a lazy
paddleboard
and to cool off in the clear blue water
before lunch
[Music]
with great conditions holding and
favorable tides
we got set up for a dive and headed off
with andrew and alex from offshore haven
to the outer reef to roll in and blow
some bubbles for an hour
[Music]
dropping the hook in eight meters off a
steep wall
we left the dinghies floating in the
blue while we went to the northwest
point for an explore
[Music]
the first thing we noticed was the
incredible visibility
the deep move water and weak current
made for perfect
conditions and it was a pleasant
contrast to the typically cloudy water
in the lagoon
fish life was still a little sparse but
to be fair
we probably would have had more to see
near the main lagoon passes
[Music]
after a very enjoyable dive it was good
to see the dinghies
faithfully bobbing where we left them
the return journey was uneventful with
the wind having filled in
we had timed the conditions perfectly
[Music]
how's your day been fatty we were just
commenting that it
has been one of those perfect days
absolutely glass out in here this
morning
uh drone flying um paddle boarding
watching rays and sharks from the
surface because the water has been so
clear
and then heading out outer reef and
doing a
cheeky dive so it's been fabulous it's
been a nice
saturday hasn't it we shared it with the
offshore haven pirates they came out
diving with us
yeah it's it was a champion day really
nice
oh there it is there's the full moon
it's behind you
the boat had turned around not the
moment
so there you go perfect gentle perfect
day yeah
it's very nice thank you so much for
watching
