After our passage through The Corinth Canal and our traumatic overnight in Kiato, we head North across the Gulf to the small town of Galixidi. Mooring on the town quay with no cost is a bonus at this time of year, with the port Police almost horizontal in their attitude towards visiting yachts.
Next up is the small island of Trizonia, lying West of Galixidi and offering sheltered mooring in the 30 knots that always seems to be trying to slow our progress.
With rotting and sunken boats, Trizonia sounds dodgy, but actually turns out to be a little gem. Friendly islanders, open tavernas and a ferry service to the mainland make this a must stop on your way through the Gulf.
An overnight stay and it’s an early start heading for Messolonghi, but first we have to pass under the famous Rion Bridge! The longest cable stayed bridge in the world, this bridge is amazing.

so it's what time I have a six seven
we're in galaxy D and we came in about
four o'clock no problem whatsoever just
modes down to got some help from a nice
guy on a boat nearby into the port
police because the kind of cold walk to
the boat and asked us to bring our
paperwork so we did and always an order
there and he said if we stay one night
we don't have to pay anything but any
more than that we might have to pay a
small fee and that includes electricity
more
[Music]
it's another beautiful morning and we're
gonna try and head off to the next place
which is cokely's owner so we'll try and
head off there sometime this morning
have some breakfast get going it's
lovely it's supposed to be 25 knot gusts
later on this afternoon so we'll try and
get there in reasonable time to get nice
and secure it in case it picks up
right

so we're more safely moored up in the in
the marina now we have gone alongside
and the wind is blowing is off hopefully
it stays like that but we were helped by
a nice couple German couple and the boat
on the left-hand side and the cat on the
right and so I came in just before us so
we we sort of both came in together
quite busy here actually didn't realize
it was gonna be this busy but few old
boats in here and few rotting away and
so walk into town and see what we can
see karma is in here and the corners 30
knot wind so we're a bit surprised we're
on this little island that we thought
was just really an old marina and it
turned round it's got a church it's got
some bars the bars look lovely and
they're actually being used at the
moment and it's only April there are
some what look like more in boys are
here which we'll ask later and there are
quite a lot of houses and I'll tell you
what it's lovely absolutely lovely so
I'm sure there's probably a market here
too somewhere
we just haven't found it yet
so you can see how lively the sea is
around here in comparison to what it was
like in that little bay and this is what
we sailed through it's a bit more lively
that was choppy
that's the mainland opposite which looks
very nice actually this is a heck of a
big graveyard for a very small island
beautifully kept
unbelievable for such a tiny island so
the opposition 1909 to 2008 only ninety
nine years old in it
sit inside

so last night we had some tea we had a
curry which is really nice we then
decided that we will put in to tap our
to the square and we went for a drink
just it's all of the little castle bars
really nice all enclosed nobody was
smoking in there which was really good
they got heater on so it were nice and
go with it we got on the internet and we
did a few bits on Facebook and to all
this I think was nice stayed there for a
couple of hours then came back to the
boat and a good night's sleep very quiet
very still this morning by seven ish
we're on the way now towards messolonghi
took about six hours something like that
we're not gonna rush because we had a
bit of a rush day yesterday and then we
stay in messolonghi overnight before we
head off to yeah we're meeting : Jenny
from current any sailing adventures so
they just finished their date skipper
course and they're heading down towards
two meters sadly nice so we've got sails
out took a lot wind but we've got a
sails out which is good we're plodding
along it about three knots of a minute
well course we are because we're tacking
but we might get there about eight
o'clock tonight to this right we've got
a lot we knew he got that 8 point 8
point something and not so wind anyway
an hour and a half into her journey
which takes us through the Gulf of
Corinth we were on the north edge of
that gulf in true Sonia
we've now traveling from east to west
and we're actually going to go through
the Rhian bridge now the Rhian bridge is
crossing over from one side of the Gulf
to the other or north the SAS or says to
north depending on which way you're
traveling back up it's about two
thousand two hundred and eighty-three
meters long so quite a long bridge and
it's the world's longest cable spanning
bridge so it's held up by cables there
are four towers which take you and the
length of the Gulf or rather the width
of the Gulf and we have to contact real
traffic to actually ask which part of
the bridge you are allowed to cross
under so it's quite exciting first thing
let's see if I can zoom in and see the
bridge now quite hard to see it's a bit
misty just see it coming to view they're
quite a big bridge so we've got to come
around that headland there and just at
that point we have to read you in to us
and the cross under the bridge
where the bridge meets the land on the
north and south coasts it's about 140
meters from the seabed and in the centre
is about a hundred and sixty meters from
the seabed
which is why you've got to contact the
control tower to actually ask them where
to go so if you're a big ship you
clearly will go through the center and
little boats like us we all go through
one of the edges
[Music]
[Music]
the name of our yacht is pesto
but we are fond of the wastrel
to what
Oh
[Music]
so we're just on standby inside the
bridge waiting for a ferry to come
across and there seem to be all about
every 15 minutes the ferries
so we're timing it I actually get
between the ferries so we're just
waiting for a call on the radio to tell
us it's time to go and then we can head
up
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
just see snow on the mountaintops just
behind the bridge just to give you an
idea of how cold it is we've got quite
an icy wind coming at us and we have had
for the last well week
