we'd spent a busy week at Maggie Island

getting some work done and meeting other

cruisers what are you getting babe

pork belly and mushrooms yeah that's

good

but we needed to keep moving to make our

push off to New Caledonia before the

winter trades set in and so we're off

for an early overnight sail to Cape

Gloucester so we're just chilling out in

the cockpit a bit of a bumpy ride but

we've got a good 15 to 18 from the

Northeast it was about 20s earlier on

but that's sort of tending to die off a

little bit we're just going past a place

called Kate bolduan great and we're

scooting along in the sort of seven

knots range bit of a bumpy ride but it's

okay

gorgeous day

I think the winds going to die out

earlier on but hope you will get an

afternoon Seabreeze and get us back in

the 20s by that stage we would have

passed Kate bowling great and we should

have the wins war coming slightly from

astern which would be really nice run

for us

hopefully fingers crossed see how we go

really good

so winds a bit forward of the vaiman

sort of

it's not perfect but we're rolling along

pretty good yeah once we get around

bowling or anyone's get to crack it off

a little bit hopefully we'll get that up

and in sea breeze and all this boy in

the in the Gloucester move it although

good would die sound gonna be a bit of a

run 100 miles or so a little bit will

probably he's run into the know a little

bit

why we'll say yeah we yeah

I don't really enjoy the way that you

meet people out here I was trying to

think of how you would compare it to the

layered life but you can't really assume

so different we seem to meet people who

are really open and welcoming and very

down-to-earth

and it's kind of funny because it you

know for us we broke into an ube or a

new Anchorage which just be like

dropping into a new suburb really we

bring out over there we park it up and

we're just happy to be cruising down one

of the streets I guess you would say it

gives us randomly knock on someone's

door you guys know who they are or

you're a victim of a bite you know use

this free stuff but I have any choices

that happen if your life and out here it

happens a lot and it's a it's a real

bonus and it's something I really

appreciate about this life we both

really another quite we both know

in the past week we'd met cruisers who'd

come back from places we were meant to

have been exploring in the past few

months it was so inspirational to meet

these people to hear their stories of

finding the remote places that we were

seeking with tales of incredible

experiences

it was just what we needed as we sailed

off today and had reject our excitement

for our future destinations

you can't actually see the

in the distance it's another 30 miles

away it I'm still rocking along pretty

good yeah we got is that oh yeah

so this is where we're sailing from

Magnetic Island to Cape Gloucester

there's a cat around about five or six

miles ahead of us and when are they left

about an hour or so or orbit over there

maybe an hour and a half before us and

we're gaining on that we're gaining on

them but the unfortunate thing is is

they're going to cane us after we get

around Cape bowling-green

because the weather we perfect for them

and not so terrific for us so we're

living with our little wind right now

we're gaining on them we're gaining on

them it's always a competition where

there's another boat out at sea

swapping the hits or for the spinnaker

as the wind came round to East the main

to gain more speed closing in on the

cannon rain ahead

spinning around with

hahahaha

right now

yes we've picked up speed now we're

honking along which is really good it's

a really good feeling being back in the

seventh and the eighth it's great we put

up the spinnaker probably about an hour

and a half ago and yeah where the winds

are sort of died off to about sort of

four and five and then it came up to six

and eight knots now we're sitting around

eleven knots it's really good

so we're cranking along it's good yep

loving the spinnaker

and it's a beautiful day

so my catchcry of the day is we're

catching and we're catching and we're

catching the catamaran and we're really

staying quite level with them which is

pretty good it's a good wins for them I

think and yeah but we are catching them

we've got our spinnaker up we're having

a really good run yes so we're about 20

miles off Cape upstart and we've just

pulled the fishing line in because we're

just crossing through a green zone at

the moment

and I'd say we'll reach Abbott point

maybe a little bit after sunset we might

get through before sunset which would be

quite good if there's any ships around

we can see if there's any ships it yet

but they'll be a few come up on a is I'm

sure

but yeah it's crankin we are cranking

to pair off the wind a little bit

we're getting a little bit of a bad back

there but it seems to settle down again

then yes gusting up to a little yeah we

got a little patch up or down there for

a second which is ready to eject but the

world I'll steer off then the wind and

we'll hang onto this thing as moment we

can't trim stay trim Steve

we often get out on deck to check for

wear and tear or anything out of order

any strange creak or noise will be

investigated at some point

I hit down for a bit of a siesta we're

going to be pulling a night shift

tonight so we're going to have a

restitch oh I got a bit sunburned back

on watch and we're ship spotting

waking I pull out my drawing book and

get with your head of vibes flowing yes

it's a lily pond it's a great way to

spend the day or spend you watch a bit

of color again looking out checking out

everything's like that

miss a multi school I really are doing

it my friends Doug Jennifer gave me this

coloring in a book a few months ago and

I really be getting it to getting

colorful and creative so we shall see

how this progresses mr. Piper

so night is falling upon us it's about

5:45 or something 5:30 in the afternoon

and the wind is dying out so we're

trying to ride the spinnaker out as long

as possible

it's probably going to collapse on us

and I'm gonna have to douse it but we

should anyway because night is falling

yeah they can be a bit of a handful at

night they're a bit of a handful in the

day yeah anyway we've been too long

really nicely that way yeah we're

playing really well election yeah and

Darren's just been down below getting a

wear safety gear ready for the night

shift

some jackets and jackets and titters

yeah we're all geared up stuff like that

hopefully we'll roll with it sometime

probably want to coffee anymore

we've got a really good run really good

we didn't manage to catch the cat but he

didn't get away from myself Mikula

better win uh-huh I reckon that's pretty

good yeah

pretty good we did start an hour and a

half after them no honey I'm okay yeah

yeah anyway that's pretty good Darrin

was really good good man good husband

yesterday and he spent much of the day

prepping up lots of food so the whole

meal thing has been really simple so you

made a lovely bit trick curry for dinner

tonight so I'm gonna go and dish that up

fairly shortly after we take the

spinnaker down or something yeah oh wait

till the Sun sets first yeah hang on as

we've been yeah

I think we're still gonna be at 35 miles

there on the sidelines shouldn't be too

bad yeah good day big day all right

they trick carry that all night can't

believe I made it and it tastes

absolutely dried yummy no I had some

pretty good

and so with the Sun going down we snuck

the spinnaker and wandered on into the

night

so it is about 9:15 9:20 in the evening

and

I'm just sitting here enjoying a

beautiful calm evening on the water it

is gorgeous

you can't see it because of the camera

but there is a big full moon behind me

to stop here and yeah the sea State is

really nice and calm we've got about 5

knots of breeze

we're pulling about 6 knots six and a

half knots which is really good and I

think we're about 18 nautical miles or

so off of our destination I can just

start seeing gloucester island appearing

off in media and i've moonlight ahead of

me so yeah it's great gorgeous i love a

night sail but it's lovely and calm like

this smooth quarters make the food

pleasant right so yeah like dazzle is

down below these catches me sleep and

I've just been watching there's been a

fishing boat to our starboard quarter

needs disappeared off and I've just got

one little island called middle island

to avoid and we should be pulling into

our anchorage another two and a half

they also say maybe three participated

in our wall of fabulous followers

so I've got all of your names and

gonna do the drawers who don't know you
