in this episode we take you through a
typical day on board where we dive with
sharks find huge clams do some boat work
sail to an island and go foraging that's
actually not a bad place of Watson last
week you found us exploring guy cannery
we had a dolphin escort upon departure
on a leisurely sail to the profilers
where we spotted a coconut tree this
sent us into a frenzy pedaling the
shallows to reach the shore to undertake
a coconut hunting expedition of mass
proportions
well good morning I thought I'd do
something a little bit different today
and take you through a typical day a day
on board so here I am in the aft cabin
and it's just gone sunrise it's a
beautiful morning and I have all the
hatches open there's a lovely breeze
blowing through and I've been doing my
morning stretches and my morning
meditations and I'm feeling very
grateful for this there's a wonderful
day ahead and first beautiful world that
we get to explore so yeah MacDowell has
been up for a little while and I think
he's making breakfast so let's go and
check out what he's up to
[Music]
good morning Sebastian what are you up
to my little buddy does the other good
news big day today big day big day of
fun
[Applause]
[Music]
this might get a little bit of breakfast
get ready for the die we have a break
you today oh yeah you know it yeah
watermelons and pull pools and I put a
little bit of chain break in there thank
you very much
how did you sleep pretty good consider I
think about three o'clock I managed to
kitchen and sleep yeah also I get the
first one thinking no it's nice it's
actually settled down mail good but
anyway
unfortunately Oh afternoon so you very
score us on hard towards huh yeah
anyway that's car isn't Rolly Rolly
Rolly Rolly let me see what what he's
doing that's you
[Music]
lovely
[Music]
after breakfast we catch the weather via
HF radio so just catching the weather on
the 8 check and in Queensland that is at
around about 7:30 in the morning and
7:45 and evening so we just don't know
check out what the weather is doing for
the next couple of days and see how long
we can stay out for and if we need to
make a run
what are you doing my honey-bunny up -
oh just having a little check in the
engine room done a fair bit of motoring
yesterday so I'm just no just checking
her out making sure she's all good for
the next adventure
ok ah just the oil water belts staying
lean anything that that may be loose or
you know wiring harness if the wiring
harnesses loose and it's rubbing against
the engine it could eventually rub
through and even cause a fire which
would be catastrophic
so yeah just little things like that
that make for a good day silent good hey
good on you my honey when I leave you to
it alright yeah so we're just loading up
on a bit of orange and then we had a
golf and you go for a snorkel when
Darren put the drone up he found a cat
away in the reef approximately that
direction wasn't it ok it's
approximately that direction so with
that cat away you'll be getting the
currents cutting in from the ocean side
and hopefully a lot more fish life so we
shall see very exciting
he's so excited he's I'm totally excited
anyway I'll finish my orange and off we
shall go nice we might see that many in
the gray suits again hey what's you know
I'm not a big fan but I'm on a little
goes take it here first though Darren
cleans out the little creatures that
tend to love making homes between the
wheels of our log luckily they're easily
rehomed with some gentle persuasion with
this done we're off to explore the reef
sorry
every dive is a new adventure that it is
daran chicks the anchor then quickly
finds himself a large clamshell while
Meg finds herself a brief you to play
with we find the variety and each reef
pretty interesting where this reef is
quite shallow in areas and has less
colorful coral with more smaller reef
fish some are the exact opposite with
deeper drop-offs and a much bigger sea
life to experience
[Music]

a wonderful got the shot confident it
was pretty funny go down what do you say
but I don't I don't know he was there
for initially yeah he done a loop around
us already in I was petting around with
a camera trying to get the camera ready
and then I ducked dive down I grabbed
you on the fender let you know he was
there and you kept Carolyn I didn't feel
it
you end in one sort of the Bamiyan he
wintery on the other side and then I
thought you're gonna pop up I'm like
hello hello there you are
Mary was Mickey
I hate was pretty casual though that's
the thing he just sort of like oh well
we'll have a look see what he does and
he just watched us and yeah and then he
he wandered off and left us to it well
it was pretty funny though back at the
ship and we hoist the dinghy in
preparation to depart
whoa so we have decided that we will
take off today because we did here on
the weather that there is there are
stronger winds coming and we don't
really want to be here in the stronger
winds trying to get out of here in the
middle of the night maybe makes things a
little bit difficult when you're at a
reef Anchorage I'm gonna make a lovely
smoothie get us underway
let's put your swimming like that we are
on weightless huh yeah baby look at that
delicious being a tidy Kiwi we're off
now Darren's just up the mast is doing
Bobby watch for thee
just pretty much gonna come back on
track and follow our track out of here
so I'll just show you
so this is a track out and we were
anchored here we did try to anchor in a
couple of places but
we found Bobby's Bobby's so we moved and
we're following this check out fairly
westerly direction I'm just coming up on
a bit where I've got to go around to
balmy
but
yeah we actually just went over a balmy
that we didn't see on the way in so it's
still good to have Darrin up on the bear
or somebody up on the bear
checking things out so just wanna tell
you that's on the chart we were anchored
and 30 uniquely at the border but
and on the chart it registers that we
five minutes
goodbye the
sai-yuk
I'll show you what my honey is up to
you've been my guiding light
we already knew that anyway didn't we
Darren's it's to to cut up some coconuts
so that I can start preparing dinner
yeah baby
delecia more although quite a bit of it
ended up in our bellies mixing a raw
coconut curry is delicious and easy
simply NAB the meat and water from one
or two coconuts then blended together to
make your coconut milk mix in your
favorite curry paste dice whatever
vegetables you have available then leave
it to sit for a few hours we snagged on
melons to add energy and by then the sea
breeze had kicked in for a steady run to
dunk Ireland
[Applause]
[Music]
[Music]
so there was a slight Cyclone Yasi gosh
I don't know maybe ten years ago and all
these poor coconut trees along the
foreshore got pained but there's a lot
of coconut trees growing on this dunk
island so if you are a forager like us
this is the place to come
I'm just checking out this little tree
over here so there's lots of new coconut
trees budding so yeah if you give them a
few years so if you're in the mid at the
moment sailing around the mid and you're
planning on crossing the Pacific and
coming to Australia then I would make
dunk island to stop because because by
about then these coconuts will be
fruiting oh oh they're all young too
young to pick leave them to grow okay
look at that these guys they're healthy
healthy clear the coconuts they know
where to find the water righty-o let's
go and see what McDowell's been up to
that's actually not a bad place of
flotsam I reckon I might be able to use
it for something
Taron old Toby odd nuts again check this
out
the interweaving of nature
who you can tell a good coconut if it's
got weight in it it's got water and so
that's gonna be really nice to drink and
because it's quite it's quite weighty
and it's sort of greenish brown and when
they get browner the water disappears
from them but they've got more meat so
it depends what you're looking for a
nice little fishing drink or lots of
meat to make into something delicious
you have a nice protein munch quite
versatile coconut hello babe
yes baby boys a corker look at that
nobody's gonna have lots of meter so
this guy's is medium ly heavy he's gonna
have some water and some mate how
exciting
[Music]
see on the youngest green coconuts this
inside is actually quite gelatinous
almost very Coco creamy and then in the
older coconuts which are going browner
to get this really yummy chewy white
meat delicious
[Music]
you Nikhil Advani evening
[Music]
my challenge will challenge you to make
your fifth Pina Colada recipe from
coconut your fresh coconut that you've
climbed the tree and got and send a
photo to us great coconut challenge
[Applause]
[Music]
okay everyone thank you so much for
watching that video we hope you enjoying
it
we have been pondering the whole coconut
thing we did do that video about five
months ago and yeah we think it would
actually be really cool if you guys did
actually send us a video a very short
video it'll be really quite fun to see
what you can do with a pina colada and a
coconut so yeah if you haven't got
coconut trees nearby you don't worry
about climbing them if you just if you
just send us a fun video about your pina
colada take with a coconut I think it
was think it would be really funny
so I'll get them to collect some
together if you send them to me and and
I'll do something fun with it
so yeah do send us a video 30-second
something like that a minute whatever to
Planet serían at gmail.com we'll see
what we can get going anyway in the
meantime give us a thumbs up yeah follow
us on Facebook and leave a comment below
