okay crunch time getting down to about
six months before we leave the dock so
gotta get some projects going it's
almost Christmas as you can see got our
Christmas - go on so here's the project
I'm picking I'm gonna start with the
communication gear
I just gotta start knocking these items
off the to-do list
we've got quite a bit on here right now
and Priority One install VHF that's in
my priority one list my priority two
list I have the SSB down here I we will
be using that quite a bit but not until
we're further down the coast so what I'm
gonna do today is lay it out on my board
here trying to figure out how do I do it
do I lay it out this way this way I'm
trying to squeeze this in because I have
still quite a bit of items to put on
this board of solar controllers tank
watch systems a lot of other things I've
already put in my bilge pump control and
my Vista propane systems are putting on
board put in three separate systems of
propane on board this one handles the
stove oven inside this one handles the
stove outside and this will handle the
barbecue outside this way I could select
and turn off and on each system
independently so I'll get going let's
start start this project at least get it
all laid out cut in today maybe get some
wiring going this will be a fun one
location here I could not wait to learn
how to use this which one do you think
is your favorite the VHF or the SSB yeah
yeah why why do you think that one's
cooler
yeah but we'll use this one more awesome
okay my dad laid this out for me I'm
gonna cut it out now just kidding

you can't see how these things fit
[Music]
okay let's see how this turned out
VHF
SSB and then the SSB speaker
lays out nicely so it gives me lots of
room here on this board here and
actually tons room under this even
though that the courts will be in the
way I still think I'll be able to mount
a panel or two over here
now the next project is the battery
charger this is my remote probe Mariner
display I just had it stuffed in here
this was the old charger that went in
here I will fix this next but I'm gonna
move this first move this over the board
and I'm gonna put it right in this area
right here so that's the next thing

okay the battery chargers installed yes
that's on yep
it's going through the setup right now
yeah yeah so now the batteries are
charging what do you think just a chilly
morning
look at these decks pretty cold out this
morning
cold holiday weekend my parents are
coming in in a couple hours so let's do
some projects we got our blue seas
labels that came in yesterday so I
thought maybe this would be a chance to
fill out this board since I have no clue
some of these things and where they go
to that teal has already installed I
mean you know you've no clue what this
one is no what what about these I have
no clue green ones there's something
there and then you did something here
and so I think we're gonna do a backer
plate and do a USB port yep no and those
two are on the list
one of them's right here good Lucy's
label and the other one is add 12 volt
USB ports to the now station
something we can do inside cuz phrasing
outside it is and this is a nice short
day so let's let's get to it
yeah hope they're in there and to you
okay so which label to got first and
we're on that board where we don't have
it yet but this is kind of a something
that we want if we put it eventually if
we have the label we have to get it yes
but it would be ideal because we think
also for long passages as we use up
everything in the main fridge we can
move everything into the smaller fridge
and then that way was that where you
gonna put it yeah okay it makes sense
right
[Music]
[Music]
pretty good job well I think so too
look at that everything's filled in well
it's accounted for right now that's
right there is still a couple little
blanks left over for future twelve-volt
needs and future 110 needs so hopefully
we won't need too much more I don't
think the deal
maybe we'll see can't believe a white
Christmas in Seattle
not much accumulation on the deck but
sure looks pretty out well the decks are
solid ice trying to get out of here this
morning so here's how you do it hot
water or else I'm going in the drink
come more jugs it'll be safe to walk on
okay ran back down to SAP plastics they
were open so I got my little piece here
also swung by the marine store grabbed a
couple extra pieces I needed this is the
other huge block that I needed to hook
up the communication equipment and
here's my little USB port which I'm
going to inset to this and mount right
here so we'll have USB charging

how it looks

[Music]
let's get in there there we go Emma
how's you lunch okay I need to drill an
inch and 1/8 diameter hole in the middle
of this thin little plastic plate could
be dangerous because if the bits catches
on it it'll spin out and cut you up
pretty good so here's what I did make
sure I get a good grip on this thing
keep my fingers Wessel away
I needed eight an inch and 1/8 diameter
hole I only had an inch diameter force
or bit so I'm gonna finish the rest
manually marking fake money
I should do it let's put this thing
together
there goes just like that
this should insert there the whole thing
should click on here nice and stable
clean now all wired it
