Carlingford Lough was our destination, but we had to wait for a weather window so we did a few tasks aboard before setting off. It was a cold run so we rewarded ourselves with an excellent curry in the Sitar Curry house.
A marina with a first rate curry house and a 100 year old boat made from cement - how cool is that?

in Edison sir there's a boat which is
drifted onto the rocks during the night
it must have broke its marring this is
an old ship over a hundred years old and
it's feral concrete actually little
cement days plans have gone out the
window
so it's time for some splicing
[Music]
okay so what I've done here is I've got
the whipping gear and then just taped
this thimble in and then what I've got
here's my three splices I've got one on
top this one underneath and another one
just over there one of the tools you'll
need to do any splicing at all is a
hollow fit only and then once this one
twisted
Earl is this one I'm gonna go in there
horseshit underneath
[Music]
a it's the first one the first splice is
always the hardest but then it's not too
bad because this is going to go over
that and under this so I guessed pull it
up
[Music]
I'm gonna do now is I'm just going to
cut off the ends and then I'm going to
use my lighter too because this is a
plastic it will actually stop the rope
from fraying okay and then the last
little job is just to get rid of these
little bits of tape that I only used to
okey-dokey
so we've now got the shackle and all
this is so that we can add it to our
spare anchor it's this is our spell
anchor in our sail Locker it's a done
fourth type but this road will go
through that at the end oh not the thing
you expect to wake up to in the morning
I don't know if it's quite visible but
the distance there there's a boat Rich's
drifted onto the rocks during the night
it must have broke it's mirroring the
people at the back of it seemed to be
RNLI people and that they are a nice
station so I guess they walked to this
particular one this is off track over
the last two nights
wonderful granny knot now this
particular part of the granny knot was
where we I decided that we needed a
little bit more chain out so that's
what's caused that but as you can see
there is an arc and that's because and
we basically it makes an arc as you
swing on your moorings no matter whether
it's blown through and as you can see
there is a big flare come I'd blowing
away from this blue sky behind it so
hopefully um this will stay with us a
little good weather tomorrow so let us
continue our adventures but that must be
at least five or six miles long that
lack of flight theory
[Music]
the car engine car Barry this is coming
into Carling car ferry is going to go
over there
this is Carlingford marina it's a small
marina on the south side of Cardigan
bird then opponents built on the silt so
the walls of returns you just sink and
have to be replaced on a very regular
basis but the greatest feature about it
really has to be this this is an old
ship over a hundred years old and it's
ferro concrete like chillingly it's mint
which explains why that's a concrete
floor and if you look closely it has
concrete stanchions
and me and bit is made of steel
reinforced concrete
um it's quite okay to walk in this
because it's the way down to the
pontoons so then where are we now we're
in the marina bar at you're not seeing
very well here we're in the Indian
restaurant at the marina it's very nice
it's early in the week yet so the place
is pretty empty but this is the view
northern islands down below
snow really presents food Pregnant's
this is what we've been very happy yeah
