We get to visit the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) in their station at New Brighton. The RNLI have saved over 140,000 lives since they were set up and are funded by charitable contributions (they are not a government agency - that is the CoastGuard). Over 600 RNLI volunteers have lost their lives over the years whilst helping others.
Please consider supporting the RNLI. You can either donate at any of their shops, online or via Salty Lass's Just Giving page.

hi everybody just a little announcement
before we start today's video we are
beginning some major refit we're
consulting us and unfortunately the
video editing which takes huge amount of
time is going to eat into that so for
the next couple of weeks we're going to
be moving to a fortnightly schedule
that's every two weeks after this video
so um just to let you all know that next
week we will not be putting a video I it
will be the week after
oh no we will now move on to our feature
presentation today where Annie brightly

zucchini where are we off to today New
Brighton and we can actually go to the
weapon station we walked along the New
Brighton Beach and Gaynor shield an
appalling lack of sense for a sailor nor
did things get much better but we have
the safety of the sea wall
we also got to see the Mersey doing its
thing pushing big ships around the Orang
allah is a charitable organisation which
assists Mariners when they get into
difficulty at sea it's completely
separate from the coastguard which is a
branch of government whereas the RNLI is
funded by charitable donation and every
crew member is a volunteer we were
visiting the New Brighton lifeboat which
does in-store rescues but the RNLI also
has all-weather boots and we saw several
of them as we sailed around through UK
and a couple of them haven't worked this
impersonal only unexpected never one to
miss an opportunity Gaynor decided to
volunteer to try on some of the kits you
know this means just to keep the stage
can't get it off plenty of encouragement
from the RNLI volunteers and the
onlookers had come to visit she only
took me and
[Laughter]
yeah it was clear that Gaynor needed to
master her technique for getting on to
the rib it just wasn't quite as slick as
it should've been we were given an
in-depth tour of the ribbon how it
worked I've shown all the safety
features that were embedded in it
being a volunteer organization people
aren't always on hand and the crews have
to turn up often at short notice
so the crew methods were excellent is in
detail launch procedures were explained
to us in detail the jug review Brighton
means they have a choice of lunch points
a short land journey can greatly reduce
the length of the sea journey which
means a faster response each crew member
has a definite set of responsibilities
and these are expenses more complicated
than what we're used to we just have the
mark one eyeball for our instrument I
see and that goes over and then your
tour line goes over that yeah yeah and
then it comes off this bar down here
yeah yep I say go off to the side first
we would interests and before we left
they made sure they got the dry suit
back off Gaynor and then she treated
reserve tutor of the tractor unit heard
that before
[Music]
yeah don't encourage her leave like you
