We cross the treacherous North Channel from Campbeltown to Glenarm, and are lucky enough to get a calm crossing. ----- About us ----- We have begun a liveabo...

ah was well acquainted to picture house
this is all I can show your campbelltown
because I'm afraid to say I'm on a
mission and I'm afraid sure it's to
cross to Ireland
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
we were crossing the North Channel from
Scotland to Northern Ireland a notorious
stretch of water but thankfully for once
[Music]
so what's today's dinner Gator X chicken
and 600 miles back in the land of saints
and scholars we mirrored up in Glenarm
marina
are you dying over there is salty lass
[Music]
the next morning we were welcomed by
band the 12th of July as Marchant and
Northern Ireland and the band rocked a
big event somewhere well somebody hasn't
crawled out of her bunk yet and it's
it's lunchtime and today's lunch will
involve some leftover tricks and slices
and some bread that's it and lunch is
ready
well gainers lunch ah trust me it's not
gonna last long
trust me on this I'm not gonna last long
but Bev insisted that I got changed more
[Laughter]
it seemed to have the fears to ourselves
apart from the Guillemots
who were busy flying underwater I
thought they were choosing fish but they
seemed to be kissing each other
we walked around and finds a nice place
for a hot drink and it had a lovely view
of Glenarm Bay as well all right you've
made the points
is a great idea to keep little beaches
clean
luckily the beach is clean otherwise I'd
be out there this is one of great arms
line kills bucking the dailies to mine
limestone here crush it and sends it
over to Glasgow for the steel industry
and shipbuilding to help reduce the iron
down to steel you can't see much here
and I don't think the camera will catch
much but it goes back one heck of a
distance far more than the camera can
see well this appears to be part of the
old line works which shut down years ago
and principally what it seems to have
been used for recently is the
traditional Northern Ireland 11th of
July bond flag in England they have Guy
Fawkes night in November where they have
huge bonfires and set fire to an effigy
of Guy Fawkes who tried to blow up
Parliament in the 1600s here they put
different effigies on top pan burn those
but this is the remains of the bonfire
obviously and you can tell us remains of
the bonfire because all this wire
belongs tires and it's traditional to
burn tires in the fire to make a black
smoke no everything's be as some
desolation of the old line work so the
bubbliest have tamed it and I'm sure
later in the year it'll be covered in
butterflies and bumblebees and above the
marina there's these poor devils who
were ripped off found scrupulous yacht
dealers who sold them the bottom part
where you live and eat asleep and left
off the top part where the masts and
sails go absolute disgrace
premiered a bit of a mistake we misread
the conditions for the passage south and
what started as not too bad passage in
the North channel just simply got
rougher and roll here so we ducked into
larne lough where the East Antrim book
club guided us on to one of their
meetings thanks guys this is long we
came in because the sea state was a
little bit but I have to say people here
at Larne are just gorgeous I have to say
I think this is the thing only been in
Northern Ireland a couple of nights so
far and Glenarm
we pay for one night and you get a
second night free here we've managed to
pick this moring up and they've allowed
to have it give it us for free we're
then gonna go to Carrickfergus they're
gonna give us a night and then second
one free so at least in Northern Ireland
there's some deals to be made there was
a couple of moorings at ten pounds so
there was there was one at mill port
that was ten and lum lash was ten so
there are a couple of ten pounds
moorings which aren't too bad but other
than that there's just no deals
whatsoever to be made you know
so money-wise the only deal we heard
about was we're in open you got seven
nights for the price of six that was the
only deal that we heard about all the
rest was nothing whereas over here like
I say we've already had one night free
this is another night and we're having
it free so
he deals to be made if in Ireland in
Northern Ireland don't know about so
itself but in here Northern Ireland
deals to be made
the downside of our location was at the
ferries run all night long and they
caused a bit of a rock-and-roll
experience for too tired yachties I'm
actually I normally do it that way don't
I when Beverly and I are on a mooring we
sleep in the main cabin because you're
closer to the center of gravity of the
salty laughs but when you've got roll of
about 10 degrees numb watch the videos
are
