well it's a rubbish sort of deck whoops

well it's a rubbish sort of day here in

the marina and it's a bit windy

and what I've decided to do is to come

out here and check the lines so I've got

storm lines rigged which are physically

nylon lines because they have a lot of

given them we find out it poor Ellen if

we use polyester lines that busy it

damage the boat I've got both a nylon

and a polyester and on that side I've

just got a heavy nylon line whoa

chuja how strong the wind force is that

that line is actually lying slack as

this one oh it's only seven degrees what

are you talking about girl oh now you're

on seven degrees that's all

honest-to-goodness she's like DZ over

the coffee oh good yeah it's how you

make a little one copper do 2 cups well

now I've actually rebuilt these and

they're looking all right but I have to

tell you I am one of the hardest people

on glasses which is one of the reasons I

don't buy expensive glasses these are

busted these are all right

storm Brendan so one of the things we

always make sure is that our halyards

are not against the mast so we've got a

couple of points where they can go so

you don't get halyard slap for our lazy

jacks I just put a sponge which you can

get from any decent car garage just

between the lazy jack so again you don't

get Holly between the knees to jerk in

the mast between the lazy jack and the

master so that you don't get that slap

and then we basically just rigged the

boat for the lines somewhere the hundred

slap is annoying to your neighbors it's

really annoying you don't look oh it's

horrible when you're down below and then

I just make sure that these are nice and

tight by pulling them down and likewise

the flag hoists just say that that's all

done we said double spring lines and

then all we had to do was wait for the

weather to roll in

well it's a windy day in the marina

this is storm Brendan apparently and

I've just decided to come out and check

the lines and see how the boats doing on

the rear it's not looking too bad we've

got plenty of fenders

the wind is coming from up here

and as you can see our Springs are quite

tight and our emergency spring is also

doing its thing plenty of fenders around

the stone and doubles don't double storm

lines here both nylon and we use the

nylon lines because they have stretch in

them may not be obvious in the video but

they do stretch and it stops the boat

snapping its lines which means the Volt

doesn't get damaged this white nylon

storm lines not doing very much because

the wind is from that general direction

but I might go forward and take in some

of that for line which looks a bit

generous and just bring the nose around

a bit but otherwise everything seems to

be fine

the rigging all looks to be as it should

be but

it's just a horrible horrible nasty day

really this is you to go on for a few

days till Friday I believe so I just

have to have a look and see this book

belongs to some friends of ours here

back in the states and we're just

keeping an eye on it

and it seems to be doing alright nothing

seems to have come loose which is all

good news

visit Belfast Lough it doesn't look too

bad

close in I don't know how well out come

out in the camera but it's pretty

obvious that once you're more than about

half a mile offshore there's Whitecaps

and spray everywhere I can see it all in

the distance here and you can also see

the wind in the Lee of the Marina wall

but the vault saw it in the lock

obviously just facing into the wind as

best they can and I think they're just

riding this site we do have one coaster

coming in way over that way may not be

able to focus the camera on that but

we'll try somewhere a bite there let's

just try that where I'm standing at the

minute in the Lee of this wall it's not

too bad here but all you have to do is

walk around that corner just a bit it

will give it a go

and I can already feel the wind building

here it's not a day you want to be at

sea

it's certainly not the sort of day I

want to be out in the North Channel

today
