Every year in the spring I get

boat fever.

This spring, it is particularly bad

I'm learning how to sail

I've decided I want to plan to spend

some time in the Bahamas

and live on a boat for a time with my

family

Constantly looking at boats I can buy

It's a beautiful day and I'm driving to

work

I love my job, I love what I do

I enjoy being a software engineer.

But I've been working since I was 14

without a substantial break

I need a break

Let's go get on a boat and go

Sail the wide open seas?

Somehow, nobody thinks I'm crazy when I

mention this idea.

The first boat we looked at, the guy

didn't take care of his sails

They were wadded up in a big ol mess of

sail in the bow of his boat.

I felt like if he didn't take good care

of his sails, he probably didn't take

good care of his boat.

So we decided to pass on that one.

The second boat was actually fine. We

probably could have gotten that

was I think a 17 foot boat

It had a cabin that you can sleep in.

It was $2,500

Probably could have gotten that boat.

But we saw this boat. It was only $1000.

It was 25 foot.

It could sleep 5 people

I thought that might be a fun boat to

get for our first one.

We just looked at our third boat.

Or I just looked at the third boat.

My brother's going to buy it and he

hasn't even seen it

So I'm really nervous because I looked

at the boat. there's lots of things

that need work on it which we know.

But it's like a really good deal for the

boat

But i'm nervous because it's his money

and I looked at it and I don't know

what I'm doing

I don't even know how to sail.

I've never even been on a sailboat.

I guess he's just going to rely on that

I thought it was a really cool boat.

getting the money right now and then

I'm going to head and pick it up and

He's at work

It's kinda funny that he's buying it

sight unseen except for me looking at it

and I don't know what I'm looking at

So Doug just bought a boat today,

bought my boat. Haven't seen it yet.

but perfect specs. $1000. 25 footer that

my friend Bill talked me into getting.

Fixer upper. Not new for me.

So, quite excited to see it.

The guy had lots of cool

things to say about it.

And it looks pretty

And it's huge.

I don't know if that's a good thing

since we don't know what we are doing.

Walking to my brother's house to pick up

my title. woohoo

going to try to get registered tomorrow.

I haven't even seen yet.

Register with the Colorado something

state parks.

Anyway, wish me luck.

I need to get a different bill of sale

that has the vehicle identification

number for the sailboat.

What I had was just the trailer.

Surrounded by sailors

After trying to register my boat I went

to get some lunch at Zoups

and must be some kind of navy convention

because I'm sitting there listening to

the conversation one of the people said

No point in getting a full berth

when there's only two of us

so I thought that was kinda funny

I'm going right now to go pick

up the boat in which we will be

learning to sail on.

It just sounds so awesome

I thought my brother was completely

crazy when he said

Hey let's learn to sail

I just didn't think it was that

interesting sounding but I can't think

about anything else anymore

I just want to sail on a boat

and I don't know why.

It just sounds so fun.

It's a lot of work. But

it's going to be worth it.

The work!

While working on it, the boat

just flipped up

My job is to counterbalance the boat.

I think I'm doing a pretty good job.

I believe in you guys

I just want to get hooked up to his

truck. And get it home before the sun

goes down.

going to head back over there

and detach it again

and then pull it out by hand

It's a bit overwhelming

Maybe we bit off more than we can chew

Or we're going to sell it again

For goals and progress,

this is a pretty big step

We'll see how quickly we can get it

up and going so we can take it on

a lake and sail
