by all svt patches we've built in a a
cruising sailboat and we're trying to
record that build week by week most
weeks nearly every week we get the video
out showing you that the build for this
boat and I'm building this boat mainly
on my own earth bit of assistance from
the kids from time to time but mania
mode part time doing it my evenings and
weekends and as I say that the purpose
of these videos is really to record that
build build them and show how we'll go
about it

we're sort of a builder and inverse real
roads not an anniversary it's two and a
half years since I started building this
week a few days ago it's two and a half
years from starting the building so
maybe it's a good opportunity to have a
quick look around the boat before we get
into what's been going on this week some
of you seen this before but there's been
a number of new subscribers recently and
actually haven't looked back over the
old ones and quick look around the boat
see what we've done in two-and-a-half
years what's been achieved maybe useful
let's do that Kerry have a little scared
of the hull she's basically 32 foot long
hold they bent for design sailing dory
you may notice there's no peel as yet
Akhil still calm cable comes on towards
the end of the build in fact the kill
will be fitted when we move up to the
boat after prize a long but I'm going to
go up on the for neck okay so if for
deck looks like this we've got a whole
front of but mass thinner into the
partners it's oversized but um that's
the mass partners from she's gonna have
two masts that's the forward last
obviously bow fitting in place this bail
pump it is only sat there at one but it
will fit I was looking around at the
other Dahlia I'm confident with very
little modification or fit comes with
the nav lights this off offer Hallberg
recipe 32 that'd be nice on their happy
with that
we've got a couple of big bronze pleats
at the church we've fitted at some stage
and I'm setting this little doghouse
with that with a deck hatch in it then
hook it up on the main deck you can see
this the experience with which a
structural in position tyrella position
another deck hatch perhaps turtle you
can see it back from her for the main
compelling way entrance hatch
so that's all done basically speaking
the woodwork the vast majority of the
woodwork on this boat is is done in that
two and a half years I've got I'm
working on the heads right now in terms
of woodwork I've still got a shelf that
I want to put in the engine room and the
letter H will also have some some
shelving storage fitted but that's about
it for the main woodwork of this
construction sir in that time would work
has been done obviously this summer
coming it would bring a lot of finishing
repainting or repeating hardware that
sort of hardware that can fit and still
get the boat out of the shade
bigger Harbor will be fitted once we've
hauled her out but I swear we are for
day and what you can see are the main
deck let's go and have a look at the
Arctic just before we go off on the off
deck is the aft end you spit dark under
here is canoe right above my head but
you see the stone post line officers
stood and I'm not obviously but it will
be a stern hung rudder going on here
with a large tiller would be the
steering so that still to go that would
be another thing that's fitted once
we've hauled her out the shade off
actually will be fitted in the boat yeah
but we made lots of holder out of the
shed got these black locust rub rails or
the face peaceful rock rails in position
running around the curve of the boat
looking nice I think we'll go up on the
aft it now
they are take cockpit nice protected
filters are effect with these big
comings
coming serve various purposes the diesel
filler will be in there some storage
boxes in these areas and there is a
quarter berth below there they make the
cockpit February safe
nice big companion white with sliding
hatch the Lazar end he says yet mainly
untouched but we've got the basics of
the lazarette hatch in place in his
hinge unum capture big old tiller will
come up to here for steering some
instruments and compasses to go in but
as a safe would work wise were pretty
much done one thing that that look needs
still doing is a cap on these bulwarks
so be a hardwood cap on the bulwarks
fore-and-aft that's one of the last
pieces of work as I said storage in the
lazarette and the engine will come in
and well we go inside it's a bit of a
mess in here what going on I've just
started working in the in the hitch this
is the heads area bare at the moment
I've sanded it up
[Music]
cut a hole here for the Fed it's going
to have a composting toilet but as a
bench with a small electric fan in it
the bed's going out there so cut the
hole in there

[Music]

[Applause]
if it sounded officer size up we're
thinking about some work surfaces in
here and getting it painted up but in
the main boat the clutter laying on the
head itself there after the forepeak
here all this way Jerry we've got two
functioning LED lights with wiring in
position and tidy this week I did a
couple of evenings this week some tidy
wiring the terminal blocks
up in these these if you lean through
music covers either side but up in the
top end of those covers a couple of
terminal blocks with the wiring
[Applause]
so that's enum working which means a
4-peat it's planed it out and basically
basically done you don't finishing real
finishing off in the saloon but pretty
much we're now we're completely painted
out the varnish on the bare wood still
to come but these hatch walls are
painted last week and they'll dry enough
that but in position it's nice for the
class or as I say but coming off this
week one major thing they did was to
work on this area under the nav table
[Applause]
[Applause]
[Music]
[Music]
the other thing is that Allah under the
nerve table all glossed out looking good
so in here again the saloon is really
for finishing varnish that table things
of the sand and the varnish fiddles
still got fiddled to go down there but
fiddles ready for but she's just about
done cushions to come to this where
we're after two and a half years behind
you there carry as the galley area this
rather cluttered at the moment bottom
also essentially there still some
shelves storage to come sinks need
fitting the water pumps need plumbing
but and a good sand up and paint out in
here the raw wood work is done I'm
pleased with that
moving into the heads this week behind
you carry two things to see it's a
little dark in there but there's at the
corner of up there which again is to all
intensive purposes down these knees
painting good sand and paint and once
the the galley of the heads are finished
we'll be moving in here into the engine
room first then back might help the
light a bit you see the engine in
position engine bed engine imposition of
a Penta with so drive the the 2010
Rossella drove in position past still
nice completely hooking up wiring fuel
fuel tanks annoying but the edge is
basically there but a reinforcement to
that to come as well but interim still -
still to be worked on once heads are
down which will should be in a week or
two short done we'll be into that engine
so that's what to another of years is a
treat so it will poke around
remember this the old trusty old Volvo
Penta MD one which as I told you what a
old back then is progressing very slowly
but we've done a bit or I've done a bit
more to the point as you can tell it's
mounted up on the stand now I've got
these brackets welded on both sides
there aft engine mounts which which are
yeah still not fixed up I've got a bit
of a bit of angle iron here that'll be
going across the effort the aft engine
mounts but I'll pop the gearbox on for
now already I just I'm really to line up
the engine melts so I'm going get that
mounted properly and just come around
this week Harry I say well did this
bracket on for the forward in Gmail on
this bolt here which is the moments just
sat in there that was that was rather
seized up and I had to to apply well but
the little grinder on it and then a cold
chisel hammer and culture heater get it
out and I should be replacing it with a
bit of this for this stud I should cut a
link for that to go through there
[Applause]
[Applause]
[Applause]
let's just enjoy about

you
isn't that lovely
as progressing and in house of zero
have a look at it maybe also spend a bit
of time to enough an initial clean-up on
this barrel so I took put the airline in
there and blew all of the water jacket
ways out being about there's a lot of
rust scale in there so clean that out
being up the barrel a bit and that's
just about ready to go on I think that
the piston rings probably need a clean
put and yeah we've written with that in
our spare time a few weeks ago I
mentioned some charity or charity effort
that my brother's doing set up a YouTube
channel climbing Kilimanjaro for net
and some of you ever look some of you
placed some money to his charity there
he's raising money for cancer care
basically speaking and Heyman is my
robber our training they want to walk up
Kilimanjaro in May the training for that
the video in videoing that the training
process and this week they went up the
walk up snow dome which is that hi
speaking wails videos out gonna look and
and watch them getting snowed on and
Snowden perhaps one last thing to say is
that all monies that they raise are
going to them the cancer charity
none of it the actual costs for their
travel and all of that they fund in
themselves so any any pledges go into
the charity the cancer charity for yeah
that's it for this week guys thank you
for watching it's very much appreciated
thank you to all old and new subscribers
and if you're if you like what we do and
you're not a subscriber please hit that
subscribe button there's a thumbs up
