we see it
all in black and white and painted
all so recently i sit and
wonder what we seem to know
took a week off last week when i'm gazed
at the sea
remember what it looks like um and here
we are
building a cruising sale button
this week we're going to go inside do
something different the last couple of
weeks have been in this
area we're going to go inside working in
the galley area
um let's go in have a look
they've been working in in this area
this week
the galley pumps so we've got fresh
water pump
and we'll be a saltwater pump
sinks installed spouts installed pumps
are down below
um under the galley uh worktop
yeah exactly carry it down there good
freshwater pump was easy enough just a
case of assembling it
put some new seals in it
rubber seals for the end caps the actual
pump mechanism is
seal free yeah assembled out no problem
okay
yeah that should be fine
there's
[Applause]
[Applause]
so
[Applause]
oh
this is the one i'm using for the salt
water i could feel some roughness in the
bore so
i bought a honing tool a fairly cheap
honing tool
and honed the bore and then got it got
it to run smoothly and so that's now
mounted as well
just getting good
start to feel really nice
so
see what happens
oh oh blood hill that much
[Applause]
oh
yeah there's the
here's the honing taller picked up just
tone those
and the bore of that uh pump barrel it's
quite good it goes out goes out to a
good size
and it worked beautifully on that on
that bronze pump barrel
very nice i'm sure it would work on a
small motor cylinder as well
not very expensive very good
so
that wasn't much was it
all right it's looking pretty good
[Applause]
it doesn't
on this base piece here that they're
held in place by two bolts that pulled
up from under the worktop
and uh they were both broken off so to
have to drill them out and recap the
threads in there
went in as you would obviously it's a
blind hole so with him with a taper
thread
take the tap first and finish it off
with a bottoming tap
but what went smoothly enough put some
new bolts in there
fitted looking good
[Applause]
yeah sorry
that's good
[Applause]
along the way there was one other thing
i had to do and that was if you
see this rod oh it's probably not light
enough is it
if i get in here that rod there
that acts as a guide rod for the pump
that was broken and i had to uh make up
a new one
brought a bit of stainless rod to the
right diameter and uh
and a tap and a die obviously to cut the
thread on the end of it
it's quite really well
there's a little guide rod piece that
should be
right to replace that one yeah i bought
this
what is it um
oh three sixteenths bsw whitworth
316th whitworth died to cut the thread
on
on that guide rod and when it arrived
that's what it looks like which is all
very lovely
um problem is when it came i realized i
don't have a die holder that small
so i had to get a bit inventive and uh
in the end i just held it in some some
vice grips and
worked perfectly there's a handy tip
isn't it
if you haven't got a small enough die
holder fire scripts work lovely
along the way of course the spouts had
to be mounted and all sealed
[Applause]
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
[Applause]
[Applause]
and finally got the uh got the seats in
again all sealed in position
this is just glued in with with a two
number one eye
uh
i'm going to take that
all right just about there then
yeah that's good
so
we look down below let's see we've got
plumbing for the fresh water bump fresh
water pump is completely hooked up
plumbed into it pumped out to the spout
that's the salt water pump at the moment
is only plumbed to the spout
i've just got a new drain for this sink
just fitted that
and obviously that will run through and
into our
true design through hull that would fit
in some while back you might
might remember and jd is a good old
cleanup
there i think they're nickel bronze but
i'm not 100 sure but
i took him in the house gave him a scrub
with a one of those sort of
pot scrubbers it's a bit like blunt
swarf you know
scrub with that they can't lovely look
really good very pleased with them
so there's the pumps under the under the
galley shelf actually
um and you'll see that that's this
connection here
um i wanted to do a fairly solid
connection on that and ended up after
trying out various things in the
hardware so i ended up buying those
brass connectors there and
soldering them on to the spouts
isn't quite going is it
[Applause]
okay
[Applause]
[Applause]
