The prestigious tall ship dropped anchor at Salerno port yesterday afternoon and has been welcoming eager crowds of locals and visitors keen to experience this iconic symbol of Italy’s maritime heritage.
Here is what’s happening on board:
• Training Future Leaders: 60 trainees (40 men and 20 women) from the Taranto Navy School are embarking today to begin their training campaign to become Non-Commissioned Officers.
• Rich History: Built in France in 1934 and acquired by Italy in the 1950s, the Palinuro serves two main duties: training future sailors and representing Italian heritage across the globe.
• Life Lessons at Sea: Under the leadership of Commander Gianluca Montella, the voyage teaches trainees teamwork, resilience, and growth through overcoming challenges together at sea.
